DP Srivastava (Vice-President)

He grew up in the concrete jungle of Capital City, Delhi. The love for wildlife provoked him to pursue Masters in Environmental Studies from the University of Delhi, and develop an understanding as a naturalist and of human ecology. He soon started exploring nature’s hidden beauties from a fallen leaf to flying birds to mammal movement and work towards conserving these fragile beauties in human-dominated landscapes.
With years of practice, he developed expertise in reading wildlife tracks and signs and monitoring wildlife in the field. He also worked as a field surveyor in assessing carnivore distribution in Central India and as an educator to sensitize students of city and rural backgrounds toward the importance of wildlife and the environment. Later joined the Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems (CEMDE), University of Delhi, and worked in the field of ecological restoration of degraded patches into full-fledged ecosystems and monitoring wildlife. The experience was later utilized to provide freelance consulting to design, conduct assessments and provide conservation mitigations to several developmental projects including highways, green energies, and tourism initiatives. The news articles about tiger sightings near Bhopal city in 2016-17 drew my interest toward this topic, that how and why tigers moving in city areas? Later he developed this into the project and registered it as a Ph.D. topic (www.urbantigers.org) in 2018.
